Berlin Science Week 2024: History, Culture and Zoonosis: Mapping Common Ground

The HNEE-ZooMap project invites you to an exciting online event that deals with the interrelationships between history, culture and wildlife. This session will explore how human-wildlife interactions throughout history have influenced the occurrence and spread of zoonotic diseases.

In this online event, ZooMap will shed light on the role of history and culture in zoonotic diseases by examining the consumption of the Tarbagan marmot as a cultural practice in Mongolia and the use of pangolin scales as traditional Chinese medicine to drive the trade in the Filipino pangolin.
