Stakeholder Workshop in Mongolia

The ZooMap project, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation and led by Prof. Dr. Denise Margaret Matias, held a multi-stakeholder workshop in Ulaanbaatar on 19 September 2024 together with the project partner Mongolian University of Life Sciences (MULS). The workshop brought together experts, policymakers, researchers and hunters from the local community to discuss zoonoses caused by the tarbagan marmot (Marmota sibirica) and to create scenario models. The ZooMap team also visited the Bogd Khan Uul Biosphere Reserve, which is said to be the world's first protected mountain range, dating back to 1778.
