Stakeholder workshop and field research in the Palawan Biosphere Reserve

We organised a stakeholder workshop on June 21, 2025, in the Palawan Biosphere Reserve in the Philippines. Participants included representatives of the Palaw’an Indigenous communities, who collaboratively developed future scenarios on hunting and the use of the Philippine pangolin (Manis culionensis).

In addition, ZooMap researcher Bryan Joel Mariano conducted extensive fieldwork in June and July 2025. His research focuses on the cultural and political dimensions of Philippine pangolin conservation, particularly through indigenous and local narratives within existing wildlife governance systems.
