ZooMap event at the UNESCO Science Decade conference

The ZooMap project hosted a participatory thematic event titled “Integrating Indigenous and Local Knowledge through Place-based Pedagogy” at the 2026 Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The ZooMap team presented insights from fieldwork in Mongolia and the Philippines. Experience from the learning exchange between HNEE and Kanazawa University was also shared by Prof. Dr. Denise Margaret Matias during the event. The participants have undergone creative postcard reflection activity to express their insights on the role of place connection and place-based learning in the context of the Science Decade. ZooMap also participated in the UNESCO’s Voices of the Science Decade campaign on Facebook and Instagram.
